Gherkin "Altaj H" F1, 2 g, Žalia stotelė
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Gherkin “Altaj” F1 (Cucumis sativus) is an early, high-yielding outdoor hybrid that crops well even in poor weather. Its light green, spiny fruits are never bitter and are ideal for pickling and canning.
It resists powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic virus and tolerates downy mildew. Sow direct in May–June, or start indoors in April and plant out in May–June at 80 × 20 cm. Harvest from July to September. It prefers fertile, humus-rich, airy soil and copes poorly with shade or drought.
The pack contains 2 g of seed (about 70–100 seeds), made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Prepare the bed in advance. Dig in well-rotted manure or compost, since cucumbers need loose, humus-rich soil. Choose a sunny spot that trees and buildings do not shade.
Never let it dry out. The crop is sensitive to drought, so water regularly with lukewarm water and mulch to hold moisture. In hot spells, water in the evening.
Pick them small. Gherkins of 5–9 cm are best for pickling. Harvest at least every other day and the plants will keep cropping until September.
