Advice from our agronomist
Check whether the seed is treated. Do not soak treated seed, and wash your hands after sowing. Sow 2-3 cm deep in rows 25 cm apart.
Give long roots deep soil. Cylindrical beetroot needs a deeply loosened bed free of stones. Thin seedlings to 10 cm and keep the soil evenly moist.
Lift before the frosts. Dig the roots between August and October in dry weather, twist off the leaves and let them dry briefly. In a cool cellar they keep until spring.
