Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in sun or part shade in well-drained soil; add grit to heavy soil. Space 20–25 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting and in long droughts. It needs little feeding – too much fertiliser makes the leaves less variegated.
Care. After flowering cut off the flower stems to keep the cushion compact. Remove any plain green shoots. In winter the main danger is wet, not cold.
Gardener's tip. Mulch around the plant with grit – it keeps the crown dry and sets off the golden leaves; divide and propagate after flowering or in early autumn.
