About this product
Sea thrift "Alba" — a white-flowered cultivar of Armeria maritima that forms a low evergreen tuft of narrow green leaves and carries white globe-shaped flowers in summer.
It usually flowers from May to July on 15–25 cm stems; the plant is 15–25 cm tall and 20–30 cm wide. It tolerates drought, poor sandy soil and salty wind.
It suits rock gardens, gravel gardens, borders and path edges in a sunny spot. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or autumn in full sun, 25–30 cm apart. The soil should be light, sandy or gravelly and well drained; improve heavy clay with sand or grit.
Care. Care is minimal. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat bloom and divide old tufts every 3–4 years in spring.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting, later only in long droughts. Feeding is usually unnecessary; too much nitrogen reduces flowering.
Winter care and pruning. Fully hardy, no cover required. Good drainage matters more than covering, since a wet winter can rot the tuft.
