About this product
Cucumber “Bara” F1 (Cucumis sativus) is a very early gherkin-type hybrid with sturdy plants. Its dark green, spiny fruits do not grow coarse or hollow and stay crunchy both fresh and after processing.
It is resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, scab (cladosporiosis) and anthracnose, and tolerant of downy mildew. Grow it outdoors: sow direct in May–June or start indoors in April, spacing plants 80 × 20 cm. Pick from June to August for salads, pickling and canning.
The pack contains 0.5 g of seed (about 17–25 seeds), made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Wait for warm soil. Sow direct only once the soil has reached at least +14 °C, usually in late May. Raise April seedlings in peat pots, as cucumbers dislike root disturbance.
Protect from frost. Keep fleece over the bed until early June. Water with lukewarm water and mulch the soil with straw or grass clippings.
Pick often. Harvest the gherkins every other day; this encourages new fruit to set and keeps the young cucumbers crisp.
