Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in partial shade, or in sun if moisture is sufficient. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball and keep the rhizome near the soil surface; space plants 30–40 cm apart.
Care. Bergenia stays in one place for 8–10 years. In spring remove frost-damaged leaves and after flowering cut off the faded flower stems.
Watering and feeding. In the first season water weekly, later in dry weather. Apply a general fertiliser or compost in spring; the plant dislikes standing water.
Winter care. Hardly any cover is needed; in snowless frost the clump can be covered with spruce branches. Remove old leaves only in spring because they protect the growing points.
