Ornamental kale Brassica oleracea 'Fringed Leaves' forms rosettes of frilly-edged leaves: green outside, with pink, purple or white centres. The rosettes are most colourful in autumn. Buy ornamental kale 'Fringed Leaves' in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Plants grow 30–40 cm tall and look good from July to November. Cool nights and light frosts intensify the colours, so the kale stays attractive after other bedding has been hit by frost.
Use it in autumn pots and window boxes, along bed edges and on graves; it combines well with heather, chrysanthemums and grasses.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in a sunny spot 30–40 cm apart or in a pot or box, at the same depth as it grew in its pot.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly so the soil never dries out. Feed once or twice in summer with a balanced fertiliser; stop nitrogen from August so the colours develop better.
Care. Remove yellowing lower leaves. Watch for cabbage white caterpillars and flea beetles and pick them off promptly.
Gardener's tip. The centre colours best once night temperatures drop below +10 °C, which makes this one of the best plants for autumn containers.
