Buxus maza
Pārdevējs: ALLIKASILM

Common box — Buxus sempervirens is a dense evergreen shrub with small glossy leaves, a classic choice for low hedges, edging and topiary.
Growth is slow (10–15 cm a year); left alone the shrub can reach 2–5 m, while clipping keeps it at 30–100 cm. The glossy dark green leaves stay all year.
It suits low hedges, bed edging, containers and clipped shapes. Note: box is poisonous and is threatened by box tree moth and box blight.

Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in a sheltered spot in sun or part shade. The soil should be fresh, well-drained and humus-rich; avoid waterlogging. For edging plant 20–30 cm apart.
Care. Clip once or twice a season, usually in May–June and August, with sharp shears on an overcast day. Inspect leaves regularly for box tree moth caterpillars and brown blight spots.
Watering and feeding. Water generously in the first year and in droughts, and mulch. Feed in spring with a slow-release fertiliser.
Winter care and pruning. Cover young plants with spruce boughs and shelter them from winter sun and cold wind to prevent browning. Remove the cover in March on an overcast day.
