Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in spring in a sunny spot in acidic (pH 4.5–5.5), peaty, permeable soil. Space plants 30–40 cm apart.
Watering Keep the soil lightly moist but not wet; use soft water.
Pruning Trim only the tips of young shoots after flowering or in spring; do not cut into old woody stems.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with a heather or rhododendron fertiliser; lime and compost are unsuitable. Usually overwinters without cover; use spruce branches if there is no snow.
