Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in sun or part shade, 40–50 cm apart. Dig the soil deeply, add compost and plant at the same depth as in the pot.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist through the season, especially in late June when buds form. Feed in spring with compost or a perennial fertiliser; in containers give an organic feed at least once a year.
Care. Cut spent flower stems regularly to encourage a second flush in September. Cut stems to the ground in late autumn or early spring. No winter cover is needed; avoid winter waterlogging.
Gardener's tip. 'Sarastro' grows fast and needs the room of a small shrub. Every 3–4 years you can divide the clump in spring to rejuvenate it.
