Canna Canna 'Red' is a tropical-looking summer plant with large broad leaves and bright red flowers. It is one of the most striking plants for big pots and the centre of a bed. Buy canna 'Red' in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Cannas flower from July until the first frosts, the blooms opening in succession on tall spikes. Height depends on the variety and conditions; in a pot the plant usually stays shorter than in the ground.
Cannas are not hardy in Estonia: in autumn the rhizomes are lifted and stored cool over winter, then replanted in spring. Use them in pots, on patios and in tropical-style beds.

Agronomo patarimai
Planting. Plant outdoors only after the last frost (late May – early June) in a warm, sunny spot 40–50 cm apart, or in a pot of at least 10–15 litres.
Watering and feeding. Cannas are thirsty: water generously in summer and feed every two weeks with a fertiliser for flowering plants.
Care. Deadhead faded flowers so new buds open sooner. After the first light frost cut the leaves back to 10–15 cm and lift the rhizomes.
Gardener's tip. Store the rhizomes in slightly moist peat or sand in a cool cellar; start them in pots indoors in March–April and the plant will flower earlier.
