Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Chamaecyparis pisifera "Filifera Nana" is a dwarf Sawara cypress with thread-like, drooping shoots that form a dense, low, mounded crown. The green foliage gives the garden a soft, fountain-like silhouette.
The mature plant is typically 1-1.5 m tall and 1.5-2 m wide, growing slowly (8-10 cm a year). It suits rock gardens, dwarf conifer groupings, slopes and containers.
The cultivar is hardy in USDA zones 4-5; in Estonia choose a sheltered, wind-free position and protect young plants in their first winters.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring in a sheltered spot between sun and part shade, in a hole twice the width of the root ball, root collar level with the soil.
Care. Needs constantly moist, humus-rich, slightly acid soil. Mulch with 5 cm to keep the soil from drying out.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly and heavily in dry weather, as drought scorches the foliage. Feed with a conifer fertiliser in spring.
Winter care and pruning. Cover with spruce boughs in the first winters and shield from winter sun and wind. No pruning is needed; just remove dead twigs.
