About this product
Watermelon “Charleston Gray” (Citrullus lanatus) is an early variety resistant to anthracnose and fusarium. The fruits are elongated and can weigh up to 15 kg. The flesh is bright red, crisp and sweet.
Fruit matures in 85–100 days. Sow indoors in March or April; grow it in a greenhouse or, in a warm summer, outdoors as well. It needs little water, though during a long dry spell water early in the morning.
The pack contains 1 g of seed (about 10–20 seeds), made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Give it room. Big fruits need long vines, so allow 50–70 cm between plants and 100 cm between rows. In a greenhouse the vines can be trained along the bed.
Do not overwater. This variety copes well with dry conditions, and too much moisture makes the flesh watery. In a prolonged drought water early in the morning at the base, keeping the leaves dry.
Keep fruit off the soil. Slip a board or some straw under each growing melon so that the rind stays clean and sound. Harvest when the underside turns yellowish and the nearby tendril has withered.
