Clematis "Comtesse de Bouchaud" is a large-flowered climber that covers trellises, fences and pergolas with mauve-pink flowers. Supplied as a young plant in a 1 L pot that establishes well.
It grows 2–3 m tall. The flowers are mauve-pink, up to 15 cm across, with creamy-yellow stamens and appear from June to September. It belongs to pruning group 3. The plant is hardy (RHS H6, to -20 °C) and suits Estonian gardens.
Ideal for pergolas, mesh fences, obelisks, house walls on a trellis and for growing through shrubs. One of the oldest and most reliable cultivars — it flowers profusely and for a long time even with little care.

Agronomo patarimai
Planting. Plant from spring to early autumn in sun or partial shade next to a support. Large-flowered clematis are planted 5–10 cm deeper than in the pot — this encourages new shoots and faster recovery from damage. Shade the root zone with low plants, stones or mulch.
Watering and feeding. Water infrequently but deeply so the soil is soaked well down; avoid standing water. Feed with a flowering-plant fertiliser in spring and before flowering; no nitrogen after August.
Care and pruning. Pruning group 3: in March cut all stems back to 30–50 cm above the ground. It flowers on the current year’s growth, so hard pruning does not reduce flowering. Tie young shoots onto the support during the season.
Winter. As the stems are cut back low anyway, the plant overwinters well in Estonia. In the first winter mound compost or peat (10–15 cm) over the crown in late autumn and remove it in spring.
