About this product
Common hawthorn Crataegus monogyna is a native thorny shrub or small tree with white flowers in May–June and red haws in autumn. Buying hawthorn for a hedge gives a thorny, wildlife-friendly barrier that shelters and feeds birds.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in spring or autumn in sun or light shade, in fertile, well-drained soil. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the root ball, set the plant at the same depth as in the pot and water well.
Care Water regularly in the first season, later only in long dry spells. Mulch the root zone with bark or leaf compost and in spring remove frost-damaged, old and crowded shoots.
Use Thorny hedge, bird- and bee-friendly planting and windbreak.
