Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant corms in spring (May) 8–10 cm deep in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil; a potted plant can be planted all summer. Space plants 15–20 cm apart.
Watering Water regularly in the first year, later in dry spells.
Pruning Cut dry stems back in autumn or early spring; old foliage protects the plant in winter.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with compost or a slow-release fertiliser. In Estonia cover thickly with mulch or spruce branches in autumn, or lift the corms and store them frost-free; cut the leaves once they have died back.
