About this product
Beetroot “Detroit 2” (Beta vulgaris) is a mid-early variety from the Organic Way organic seed range. It forms round, dark red roots ready to lift in 85-95 days.
The variety suits both summer and autumn harvesting and stores well. Sow outdoors from April to June up to 4 cm deep, in rows 25 cm apart with plants 10 cm apart. It does best in a medium-heavy, deeply cultivated, non-acid loam.
The pack contains 3 g of seed (seed clusters), made by Organic Way.

Advice from our agronomist
Prepare the bed deeply. Beetroot dislikes acid soil, so lime the bed the previous autumn if needed. Loosen the soil deeply so the roots can develop evenly.
Thin in good time. Each seed cluster produces several seedlings. When they have 2-3 true leaves, thin to 10 cm apart; the young leaves are good in salads.
Sow in succession. Several sowings from April to June give fresh beetroot in summer and roots for storing in autumn. Lifted before hard frosts, they keep for a long time in a cool cellar.
