Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Gherkin “Dirigent” F1 (Cucumis sativus) is an early parthenocarpic hybrid that sets fruit without pollination and gives a generous crop. The small, smooth fruits are never bitter, taste and smell good, and keep their fresh look long after picking.
It resists powdery mildew and scab (cladosporiosis) and has intermediate resistance to cucumber mosaic virus. Grow it outdoors or under glass: sow in the greenhouse or indoors in April, outdoors in May–June, spacing 80 × 30 cm. Harvest from June to September for eating fresh or canning.
The pack contains 0.5 g of seed (about 17–25 seeds), made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Start in April under glass. Being parthenocarpic, this hybrid needs no bees and suits a closed greenhouse well. Sow in peat pots and plant into warm soil once nights stay above +12 °C.
Train up a trellis. Under glass, tie the vines to a string or mesh; the leaves then get more light and the fruit stays clean.
Feed and water. Cucumbers need rich, airy soil. Water with lukewarm water and feed every two weeks while fruiting. Pick often to encourage new fruit.
