Coneflower Echinacea is a sun-loving, long-flowering perennial, offered here as assorted varieties. Buy coneflowers in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery – the exact variety and colour depend on availability.
Large daisy-like flowers with a domed, spiky centre come in pink, purple, white, yellow, orange or red. They bloom from July to September, and plants reach 40–100 cm depending on the variety.
Coneflowers are hardy (USDA 3–9), drought tolerant and loved by bees and butterflies. Use them in borders, prairie-style plantings and as cut flowers.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or early summer in full sun and well-drained soil, 40–45 cm apart. In wet clay plants may die over winter.
Watering and feeding. Water during dry spells in the first summer; established plants are drought tolerant. Feed lightly in spring – overly rich soil makes stems floppy.
Care. Deadhead to prolong flowering. The last seed heads can be left for birds over winter and the stems cut back in spring.
Gardener's tip. Hybrid varieties need to root well before their first winter – don't cut stems too low in autumn and avoid heavy nitrogen feeding.
