Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in autumn (September–October) in a sunny spot in very well-drained soil, adding sand if needed; spread the roots out like an octopus and set them 10–15 cm deep. Space plants 50–60 cm apart.
Watering Water moderately while growing; after flowering, when the leaves die back, cut down watering — summer wetness rots the roots.
Pruning No pruning is needed; remove dry and damaged leaves in spring.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with compost or a slow-release fertiliser. In autumn cover the crown with compost and spruce branches; spring frosts can damage young shoots — cover them with fleece if needed.
