Alpine strawberry "Rügen", 1 g, AGRONOM
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Alpine strawberry “Rügen” (Fragaria vesca) is a perennial variety bearing red, sweet and fragrant berries. The fruits are much larger than those of woodland strawberries, yet keep the same unmistakable flavour and aroma.
The harvest runs for a long season, from June to September. Grow the plants in a bed or in a rock garden, where the compact clumps and red berries are both pretty and productive. The seed is very fine, so plants are usually raised indoors first.
The pack contains seeds, made by AGRONOM.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow in the light. In February or March scatter the fine seed over moist compost, leave uncovered and keep under film at +18-20 °C. Germination can take 2-4 weeks, so be patient.
Plant out in late May. Prick out seedlings into small pots at the 2-3 leaf stage and plant into the bed at the end of May, 25-30 cm apart. Early-sown plants may give their first berries that same summer.
Mulch and renew. Cover the bed with straw or pine needles to keep the berries clean. Water in dry spells and replant every 3-4 years.
