Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in full sun in light, well-drained soil. Heavy clay and standing water shorten its life. Space plants about 30–40 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting until established, then only in drought. It needs little feeding — in rich soil it grows lush but flowers less and flops.
Care. Deadhead to prolong flowering. In late August the flowering stems can be cut back, which encourages new shoots and helps overwintering.
Overwintering. Gaillardia overwinters best in dry, well-drained soil. Do not cut it to the ground in autumn; a light cover of spruce branches helps.
