Gaura lindheimeri "Crimson Butterfly" 9 cm pot
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Gaura lindheimeri "Crimson Butterfly" (also listed as Oenothera lindheimeri, gaura) is a compact perennial with burgundy-red foliage and white, pink-tinged butterfly-like flowers. It blooms from June into autumn and the deep red leaves give a strong contrast.
The cultivar stays low and dense, so it suits containers, borders and rock gardens. It is drought tolerant, attracts bees and flowers best in full sun.
In the Estonian climate hardiness is borderline (USDA 5-9), so plant in a sheltered warm spot and mulch for winter.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in May-June in a sunny, well-drained spot. Space plants 40 cm apart and water well at first until roots establish.
Care. Remove faded flower stems to encourage more blooms. In spring cut old stems to the ground once new growth begins.
Watering and feeding. Water moderately; established plants tolerate drought. Feed in spring and July with a small dose of general fertiliser.
Winter care. Cover with branches or mulch in autumn and avoid wet winter soil. In cold sites grow in a pot and overwinter in a cool, bright room.
