Granulated garden and lawn lime, 10 kg, Baltic Agro
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Granulated garden and lawn lime is fast-acting ground chalk in granular form. It is used to reduce soil and lawn acidity and to correct calcium deficiency in plants.
The granules neither dust nor blow away — unlike ordinary lime flour it can be spread over an established lawn in spring or autumn without leaving the garden white.
The bag holds 10 kg. When establishing a new garden allow 25 kg per about 250 m²; thereafter 25 kg per 500 m² a year. Produced by Baltic Agro.

Advice from our agronomist
Measure before you lime. The rate depends on your soil's acidity and texture, not on a hunch. A simple pH test from a garden centre costs little and prevents over-liming, which is far harder to undo than acid soil.
Who wants lime. Cabbages and other brassicas, peas and beans, onions, beetroot, lawns, stone fruit and apples, most perennials — they all want pH 6–7.
Who must NOT be limed. Blueberry, lingonberry, cranberry, rhododendron, azalea, heather, hydrangea (the blue ones!) and conifers want acid soil. Never lime under them — a blue hydrangea turns pink after lime.
When. In spring before planting or in autumn after harvest. Do not apply lime together with manure or a nitrogen feed: the nitrogen escapes as ammonia and is lost. Leave at least two weeks between them.
On a lawn. Lime does not kill moss itself, but it removes the acidity moss depends on. Spread in spring or autumn and water in — the granules dissolve and settle into the soil.
How often. Once every 3–4 years is enough unless a soil test says otherwise. Liming every year pushes the pH too high, and then plants can no longer take up iron and manganese.
