About this product

Tomato “Green Zebra” (Solanum lycopersicum) is a tall heirloom variety whose fruits are marked with green stripes. The medium-sized fruits weigh 70-150 g; when ripe they soften and turn yellowish green while the stripes remain clearly visible. The flesh is pale green and meaty.

The variety is prized for its distinctive tangy flavour, which makes it a lively addition to salads and fresh eating. Sow for transplants from February to April and grow in a greenhouse with 40-75 cm between rows and 50-100 cm between plants.

The pack contains 10 seeds, made by Baltic Agro.

Advice from our agronomist

Judge ripeness by colour. The fruit is ready when its base colour turns yellowish green and it gives slightly when pressed. Fruit picked too early stays hard and sharp.

Train to a single stem. Tie the tall plant to a string in the greenhouse and remove side shoots every week. In late August pinch out the tip so the last trusses ripen.

Raise sturdy transplants. Prick out seedlings into pots at the first true leaf and keep them on a bright windowsill. Plant into the greenhouse in the second half of May, once the soil has warmed.
