About this product

Eastern white cedar "Tiny Tim" (Thuja occidentalis) is a dwarf, globe-shaped evergreen conifer with dense dark green foliage. Its compact habit suits containers, rock gardens, mixed borders and low edging.

At maturity it reaches about 0.6–1 m high and as wide, growing slowly (5–8 cm per year). "Tiny Tim" arborvitae is hardy (USDA zone 3–7) and overwinters well in Estonia.

Plant it in sun or part shade in moist, well-drained soil. It keeps its shape on its own and needs practically no pruning.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Keep the root collar level with the soil and mulch to retain moisture.

Care. No pruning is needed; remove only dead twigs if necessary. Avoid hard pruning into old wood.

Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially in the first years and in dry summers. Apply conifer fertiliser in spring.

Winter. Hardy, but a young plant can be shaded with horticultural fleece against winter sun and wind. Shake off heavy snow.
