"Rywal" is a mid-early, all-purpose beetroot with cylindrical dark red roots that are sweet and juicy. Buy "Rywal" beetroot seeds (20 g, Žalia stotelė / Agrofirma Sėklos) in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
The roots weigh about 160–200 g, with smooth thin skin and evenly wine-red flesh without pale rings. The leaf canopy is small, so plants can be grown closer together.

Planting. Sow from late April to June once the soil has warmed to at least 8 °C, 2–3 cm deep, rows about 50 cm apart. Beet seed is a cluster of several seeds, so sow thinly.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist during germination and root growth – drought makes beetroot woody. Lime acid soil the autumn before; avoid fresh manure, which spoils root shape.
Care. Thin seedlings twice, finally leaving 5–10 cm between plants. Weed and hoe between rows, especially in the first weeks.
Gardener's tip. Cylindrical roots slice into even rounds – ideal for roasting and pickling. Lift the crop before frost, as the variety is not frost-hardy.
