Foamy bells Heucherella "Plum Cascade"
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Heucherella "Plum Cascade" is a trailing foamy bells from the Terra Nova Cascade series that spreads and spills over the pot edge like a plum-coloured carpet. The leaves are sharply lobed, purple-silver with dark grey veins. Buy Heucherella "Plum Cascade" in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
The foliage mound is only about 25 cm tall but up to 80 cm wide, with flower stems to about 30 cm. Small light pink bells appear in summer (June–July, longer in a good year). The foliage is evergreen and ornamental from spring to autumn.
It is hardy (USDA zone 4), prefers part to full shade and humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Ideal for hanging baskets, tall pots, wall tops and as shade groundcover; foamy bells do not get rust.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant from spring to August in part shade; in borders space 50–60 cm apart so the stems can spread. Keep the crown level with the soil and add compost or leaf mould.
Watering and feeding. Foamy bells need more moisture than heucheras: water regularly in dry weather, especially in pots and baskets. Feed in spring and early summer with a slow-release perennial fertiliser.
Care. Cut off spent flower stems, and in spring remove winter-damaged leaves. When the clump gets bare in the middle after 3–4 years, divide it in spring and replant the young pieces. Move containers to a sheltered spot for winter or sink them into the ground.
Gardener's tip. In a hanging basket "Plum Cascade" looks best next to a lime-leaved heucherella or a silver groundcover – the plum colour stands out in contrast.
