Lance-leaf hosta — Hosta lancifolia is a shade perennial with narrow, lance-shaped, glossy dark green leaves forming a dense clump.
From July to September narrow funnel-shaped lavender to purple flowers rise on 45–60 cm stems above the foliage. The plant is 30–45 cm tall and 40–60 cm wide.
It suits shaded beds under trees, pond edges and containers. Combine with ferns and astilbes; watch for slugs and snails.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in spring or September in part shade or shade, 40–50 cm apart. The soil should be humus-rich, moist and well-drained; keep the top of the root ball level with the ground.
Care. Remove spent flower stems and yellowing leaves. Divide the old clump every 4–5 years in spring when growth weakens. Protect young leaves from slugs.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly and generously, especially in drought, and mulch with leaf compost. Feed in spring with compost or a slow-release fertiliser.
Winter care and pruning. Fully hardy; the foliage dies back in autumn. Cut the dead leaves in early spring and mulch the roots on poor soil.
