Hosta Hosta "Sunny Halcyon" is a new Dutch-bred cultivar with yellow foliage, a sport of 'Catherine'. Leaves are thick and ovate, forming a compact mound about 30–40 cm tall and up to 50–75 cm wide.
In shade the leaves are chartreuse, in more sun a brighter yellow. Pale lavender tubular flowers open in July–August. It suits shady borders, woodland gardens, planting under trees and containers.
Very hardy (USDA zone 3) and undemanding. The thick leaves are more slug-resistant than thin-leaved hostas.

Agronomo patarimai
Planting. Plant in spring or August–September in part shade or shade, in moist humus-rich soil. Keep the planting depth the same as in the pot and space plants 50–70 cm apart. Morning sun is fine; midday sun scorches the leaves.
Care. Mulch with compost or bark to hold moisture. Check for slugs in spring as the new leaves unfurl.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly so the soil never dries out, especially in the first year. Feed in spring with compost or a slow-release fertiliser.
Winter and pruning. Fully hardy, no winter cover needed. Cut back faded foliage in autumn or spring and divide the clump every 4–5 years in spring.
