About this product
Panicle hydrangea Hydrangea paniculata 'Fire Light Tiny Bit' is a dwarf Proven Winners cultivar, officially Fire Light Tidbit® ('SMNHPK') – the little sibling of the famous Fire Light with the same fiery colour change. Buy Hydrangea 'Fire Light Tiny Bit' in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery – we sell it as a potted plant.
The full, almost rounded panicles open white in early to mid summer, pass through pink tones and finish a rich deep red. It flowers all summer and the heads stay attractive into autumn.
The shrub grows only 60–90 cm tall and about 90 cm wide. The habit is mounded and dense. It flowers on the current year's shoots, so it is pruned in early spring and still blooms reliably after a hard winter. It is hardy to USDA 3, so in Estonia (zones 5–6) established plants overwinter without protection. Use: containers, borders, small gardens, mass planting, cut and dried flowers.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in sun or light shade, sheltered from strong wind. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and use fertile, slightly acidic soil (pH 5–6.5); add acidic peat or conifer compost. Do not bury the root collar. Spacing: 60–80 cm.
Watering and feeding. Hydrangeas love moisture: in hot weather water 1–2 times a week with 10–15 L per plant and mulch the root area with bark or pine needles. Feed with a nitrogen fertiliser in spring and a complete hydrangea fertiliser in June–July; stop nitrogen from August so the shoots can ripen. In containers water more often and feed every 2–3 weeks until midsummer.
Care. This cultivar flowers on the current year's shoots. In early spring (March–April) remove weak and crowding branches and shorten the strong shoots to 2–4 pairs of buds (by one-third to two-thirds): the harder the pruning, the larger the panicles. Dry flower heads can be left on for winter interest. Established plants overwinter in Estonia without cover; young plants only need a mulch in their first winter.
Gardener's tip. Plant 'Fire Light Tidbit' in groups of 3–5, 70–80 cm apart, for a low flowering edge that turns from white to red.
