Hydrangea serrata "Bluebird"
Pārdevējs: ALLIKASILM
Par preci
Hydrangea serrata "Bluebird" is a compact mountain hydrangea with lacecap flowers: deep blue fertile florets in the centre ringed by large pale blue to pink sterile florets. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Buy Hydrangea serrata "Bluebird" in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
The shrub grows 0.5–1 (up to 1.2) m tall and wide and flowers from early summer into autumn. Colour depends on soil: blue on acid soil (pH below 5.5), pinkish on neutral to alkaline soil. The leaves turn red in autumn.
Mountain hydrangea flowers on last year's wood, so in Estonia it needs a sheltered spot and winter protection (RHS H5, about −15 °C). Use it in part-shade borders, woodland gardens, with rhododendrons or in a large pot.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in spring in a sheltered spot in part shade, away from scorching midday sun. For blue flowers add acid peat or ericaceous compost to the hole. Space 80–100 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist – mountain hydrangeas dislike drought. Mulch with conifer bark or peat. Feed May–July with a hydrangea or ericaceous fertiliser; use aluminium sulphate to keep the colour blue.
Care. Buds form on last year's wood, so do not prune in autumn. In spring remove only frost-damaged tips and old flower heads down to the first strong pair of buds. In autumn mound the base and cover with spruce boughs or fleece.
Gardener's tip. Leave the dried flower heads on over winter – they protect the tip flower buds from frost and look lovely in snow.
