Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or September in full sun and well-drained soil; it does not tolerate wet sites. Leave 1.5–2 m around each plant because the shrub spreads widely.
Care. Mulch with gravel or bark and weed around young plants. Do not let fallen leaves smother the foliage.
Watering and feeding. Water once a week in the first year, later only in long droughts. Feed in spring with a conifer fertiliser and stop after July.
Winter and pruning. Cover young plants with spruce branches in the first winter and shake heavy snow off the branches. Trim only young shoots, never into old wood.
