About this product
Juniperus × pfitzeriana "Gold Coast" (Pfitzer juniper) is a low, spreading golden-yellow evergreen juniper reaching 0.6–1 m in height and 1.5–2 m in width. Its main feature is the bright golden foliage that holds year-round.
The branches arch upwards and outwards to form an open, layered crown. Colour is richest in full sun and turns greener in shade. The cultivar is fast-growing, undemanding and tolerant of urban conditions.
Use it as a bright contrast to dark green and blue conifers, on slopes, in rock gardens and in large containers. A young plant in a 15 cm pot grows into a sizeable shrub over the years.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in April–May or in September while the soil is warm. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, mix with garden soil and sand to ensure good drainage; keep the root collar level with the ground. Space plants 1.5–2 m. Site: full sun to keep the golden colour.
Care. In the first two years never let the soil dry out; a 5–7 cm layer of bark mulch keeps moisture in and suppresses weeds. Hoe gently because the roots are shallow.
Watering and feeding. In dry weather water once a week (10–15 litres per plant). Feed in spring with a conifer fertiliser containing magnesium and stop feeding after July.
Winter care and pruning. Hardy; in the first winter young plants may get a light cover. Shake heavy snow off the branches. Trim lightly in spring to keep the shape; do not cut into old wood because it will not regrow.
