About this product

Root nutrient liquid is not an ordinary fertiliser but a concentrate of humic and fulvic acids. It does not feed the plant directly; it activates the beneficial microorganisms in the soil, and they in turn make the nutrients already present available to the roots.

Composition: water, humic extracts at least 48 % (of which fulvic acids at least 18 %), plus macro- and micronutrients (N 0.2 %, P 0.5 %, K 0.3 %).

It earns its keep most at planting and transplanting: roots establish faster and the plant does not stall. The bottle holds 0.5 l of concentrate. Produced by Baltic Agro.

Advice from our agronomist

What humic acids are. They are substances formed over centuries from decayed plant matter — the very thing that makes forest soil black and alive. They hold nutrients and water and feed the soil bacteria that unlock nutrients for the roots.

At planting. Water the hole with a 1 % solution before you set the plant in, and again straight after planting. Roots move a day or two sooner and the transplant does not sit still for a week.

For soaking seed. A 5 % solution for 6–12 hours. It helps most with slow germinators: carrot, parsley, onion, dill.

On the lawn. 100 ml per 10 l of water, every 10–15 days through the season. The greatest benefit comes in spring as the lawn wakes, and in August after a dry summer.

It does not replace fertiliser. Humic acids help a plant obtain nutrients but are not nutrients themselves. In a garden that is never fed they work no miracle — use them alongside normal feeding, not instead of it.

Safety. The concentrate stains hands and clothes brown — wear gloves. Do not leave it in frost: a frozen concentrate loses some of its effect.
