About this product
"Hinnonmäki Grün" is a Finnish gooseberry variety (Ribes uva-crispa) with sweet green berries.
The bush crops generously: berries ripen from late June through July and are delicious straight from the bush as well as for jam and compote. It fruits on last year's growth, so expect a full crop in the second year after planting.
The variety is self-fertile and hardy (RHS H6, down to −15…−20 °C), about 1.5 m tall and wide.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in early spring or autumn in a sunny place. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, add compost, and space bushes 1–1.5 m apart. Plant slightly deeper than it grew in the pot.
Care. Mulch with well-rotted manure or compost in spring and remove weeds. Watch for mildew and sawfly.
Watering and feeding. Water in drought and while berries swell. Give a balanced fertiliser in spring and potassium and phosphorus after harvest.
Winter care and pruning. Overwinters without cover. Prune in late winter: remove old (over 4–5 years), weak and crowded stems, leaving 8–10 strong branches of mixed ages.
