Home garden lawn seed — a mixture for the ordinary domestic lawn, which has to do three things at once: take footfall, look good and not demand daily attention. The mix holds species that genuinely grow in our climate: fescue (Festuca) gives a dense sward and takes drought, ryegrass (Lolium perenne) germinates fast and covers the ground in a fortnight, and meadow grass (Poa pratensis) creeps by rhizomes and repairs worn patches by itself.
That trio is what makes a lawn durable: fast ryegrass covers the soil, slow meadow grass takes over within a year and holds the sward for years. 1 kg covers about 30–40 m2 of new lawn, or up to 100 m2 of overseeding.
Sow from May to early September. Sowing at the height of summer, in heat and drought, often fails — the best times are spring and the second half of August. Producer Baltic Agro, Estonia.

Advice from our agronomist
Level the ground before sowing and roll it lightly — an uneven surface gives an uneven lawn that the mower later scalps.
Sow in two passes, half the seed crosswise: that way you get no stripes.
Keep the soil evenly moist until germination — two to three weeks, and the only genuinely critical period. A seedling that dries out does not come back.
First cut at 8–10 cm: take off the tips only, not half the blade.
Do not feed before the first cut; after it, give a spring lawn fertiliser.
