About this product

Poppy "Falling in Love" (Papaver rhoeas) is an annual from the Lucia ELITE range that is sown directly into the bed. "Falling in Love" poppy blooms from June to July and gives the garden an airy meadow look with delicate, fluttering flowers.

The seeds are very small, so they are mixed with sand or dry soil for sowing. According to the supplier calendar, seeds are sown under glass in April–May or outdoors in April–May or October; flowering begins in June and lasts until July.

The pack holds 0.3 g of seeds; barcode 4770168926141. Poppies suit flower beds, meadow mixes, rock gardens and cut flowers.

Advice from our agronomist

Sowing. Choose a sunny spot with loose, well-drained soil. Mix the fine seeds with sand, scatter them thinly over the surface and press in lightly or cover with a thin layer of soil.

Care. Poppies dislike transplanting, so sow directly where they are to flower. Thin crowded seedlings to 15–20 cm apart.

Watering and feeding. Water moderately in dry weather; poppies tolerate drought and do not need heavy feeding. Too much nitrogen gives leaves rather than flowers.

Flowering and self-seeding. At the end of flowering you can leave the capsules to ripen so the poppy self-seeds. Collect seed from dry capsules and store in a paper bag in a cool, dry place.
