The straight edge is ideal for cutting lawn and bed edges, digging trenches and planting holes and turning over soil.

Use. For digging beds, cutting lawn and bed edges, making planting holes and turning over soil.
How to use. Set the blade vertically, press down on its top edge with your foot and tilt the handle towards you. Do not lever out large stones or roots — the shaft may break.
Care and storage. Clean soil off the blade after use, dry it and oil it lightly. Store the spade in a dry place and keep the shaft out of the rain.
Gardener’s tip. Dig heavy clay soil in autumn — winter frost breaks up the clods and the soil is easier to work in spring.
