Leucanthemum maximum "Mayfield Giant" is a tall, large-flowered Shasta daisy – the classic garden daisy with big snow-white flowers with golden centres that brighten the border all summer. Buy Shasta daisy "Mayfield Giant" in 9 cm and 1 L pots in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Strong stems carry flowers about 8–10 cm across that are excellent for cutting and last long in a vase. It blooms from June to August. Based on the species, it grows 60–90 cm tall.
Shasta daisy is a tough, hardy perennial well suited to Estonian gardens. It attracts butterflies and bees and fits cottage gardens, mixed borders and cutting beds.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant from spring to August in sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Add compost to the planting hole. Space plants 40–50 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Water in dry spells, especially while flowering, but avoid standing water, especially in winter. Add compost or a general fertiliser in spring and a potassium-rich flower feed in June.
Care. Deadhead to keep the flowers coming. Tall stems may need support in windy spots. Cut stems back in autumn. Divide the clump every 3–4 years in spring to keep it vigorous.
Gardener's tip. For cutting, pick flowers just fully open – they last over a week in a vase. Shasta daisies look great with blue cranesbills and red bee balm.
