About this product

Shasta daisy "Silver Princess" (Leucanthemum maximum) is a low, compact daisy with white flower heads and yellow centres — the classic garden daisy for the front of a border and containers.

It grows 30–50 cm tall and 30–40 cm wide. It flowers from early to late summer; deadheading prolongs flowering. The cultivar is very hardy (to -35 °C, USDA zone 4) and suits Estonian gardens. Supplied in a P9 pot (9 cm).

Ideal for the front of perennial borders, edging, window boxes and pots, and for naturalistic gardens. The flowers attract bees and butterflies.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting. Plant from spring to early autumn in a sunny spot, 5–6 plants per square metre. Plant at the same depth as in the pot; improve heavy clay with compost and sand.

Watering and feeding. Water regularly in the first weeks and in dry spells, but avoid standing water. Add compost or a perennial fertiliser in spring.

Care. Deadhead spent flowers to extend flowering. Divide the clump in spring every 3–4 years to keep it vigorous.

Winter. Very hardy. Cut the stems low in autumn; the leaf rosette stays over winter. On wet, heavy soil the roots may rot, so good drainage matters.
