Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant the bulb at three times its height in a sunny or part-shade spot with well-drained soil; flowers like sun, roots like cool. Space 20–30 cm apart.
Watering Water deeply in dry spells but never let the bulb stand wet; even moisture matters during growth.
Pruning Remove faded flowers but leave stems and leaves until they yellow – the bulb stores energy that way.
Feeding and winter care Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring and during flowering; avoid excess nitrogen. Hardy; a light mulch in autumn is optional.
