About this product

Blue honeysuckle (honeyberry) Lonicera caerulea Duet is a very hardy berry shrub whose elongated blue-black berries ripen early, usually in early June. Buy honeyberry Duet if you want an easy, disease-resistant berry crop.

For a good harvest plant at least one other honeyberry variety nearby, as the plants cross-pollinate. It prefers sun or part shade and moist, slightly acidic soil. Prune only old and crowded branches. Potted plant.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting Plant in spring or autumn in a sunny, sheltered spot with humus-rich, well-drained soil. Mix compost into the planting hole and water well.

Care Water in dry weather, especially while the berries ripen. Mulch the root zone, thin out old and crowded branches in late winter and feed with a berry fertiliser in spring.

Use Berry patch, informal hedge and small gardens; berries are eaten fresh, as jam or frozen.
