Garden lupin (Lupinus polyphyllus), mixed colours, 9 cm pot
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Lupinus polyphyllus, mixed colours is a garden lupin with candle-like spikes in mixed colours — each plant may flower in its own shade. Buy mixed-colour lupins in Estonia from ALLIKASILM — an easy-to-grow perennial in a 9 cm pot.
It grows to about 80–100 cm and flowers in June–July. As this is a colour mix, the exact colour of each plant shows when it flowers. Lupins fix nitrogen from the air with the help of root-nodule bacteria and improve the soil.
Perfect for the back of a border, cottage and country gardens, along fences and for cutting. The flowers attract bumblebees and bees.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in a sunny spot in light, free-draining soil, 40–50 cm apart. Lupins have a deep taproot and dislike being moved later.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting and in dry spells. No nitrogen fertiliser or fresh manure is needed — the lupin fixes its own nitrogen. If needed, add a little potassium and phosphorus fertiliser in spring.
Care. Cut off faded spikes straight away — lupins often rebloom in late summer and will not self-seed everywhere. Stake tall spikes in windy spots.
Overwintering. A hardy perennial. Cut the stems down in autumn. Lupins are fairly short-lived, so renew the planting every few years.
