Advice from our agronomist

Planting Plant in spring (May) or autumn in a sunny or partly shaded spot with moist, fertile soil; it also tolerates moderately wet sites. Mix the soil with compost, set the crown level with the soil and water generously. Space plants 40–50 cm apart.

Watering Water regularly and generously, especially in dry spells – the plant needs constantly moist soil. Mulch the soil.

Pruning Remove faded flower spikes to prolong flowering; cut stems near the ground in autumn or spring. Divide the clump every 3–4 years.

Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with compost or a complex fertiliser. Hardy and needs no special cover.
