Malus domestica "Ranetka Krasnaya"

Apple tree Ranetka Krasnaya (Estonian: Punane suhkruõun) – a crab-type apple with small red fruits, among the hardiest and least demanding apple trees for northern gardens. The small apples are used for jam, compote and drying.

Apple trees like a sunny site, fertile loamy soil without standing water and good feeding in the first years. When planting, the root collar stays at soil level; water the tree generously afterwards and mulch. For better cropping, annual pruning and a different cultivar nearby as pollinator are helpful.
