Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Clear weeds, loosen and level the soil and roll it lightly. Sow evenly in two directions at the rate given on the pack, rake in 0.5–1 cm deep and roll again.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil constantly moist for 14–18 days after sowing – in dry soil seed may not germinate for months. Use a fine spray so seed is not washed away. Once established, feed the lawn in spring and summer with a lawn fertiliser.
Care. Make the first cut when the grass is 8–10 cm tall, down to 5 cm. Then mow regularly and never remove more than a third of the leaf at once.
Gardener's tip. On sports and play areas overseed worn patches every spring – the mix recovers fast and the lawn stays dense.
