Softwood chips (pine) 20–50 mm, big bag 3 m³
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Softwood chips (pine) 20–50 mm are chipped coniferous wood in a 20–50 mm fraction sold in a 3 m³ big bag. Softwood chips are used in the garden as mulch under trees and shrubs and on beds, and to cover paths.
Mulch keeps soil moisture, suppresses weeds and protects the soil from strong sun and cold. Pine and other softwood chips break down slowly and stay on the surface longer than finer mulch.
The pack is a 3 m³ big bag; internal code 5663. Suitable for larger garden and landscaping projects.

Advice from our agronomist
Use. Spread the chips over beds and under trees and shrubs in a layer 5–8 cm thick. Keep the chips a couple of centimetres away from trunks and stems so moisture does not collect at the plant collar.
Quantity. Use the chips as a surface mulch, not mixed into the soil, because fresh wood binds nitrogen from the soil. Under paths, lay weed-control fabric before spreading the chips.
Storage. Keep the big bag in a dry place and cover it with plastic if needed. Left in storage for a long time the chips heat up and go mouldy, so use them within a reasonable time.
Safety and environment. Wear gloves and avoid breathing in dust. Wood chips are a natural material and break down into humus over the years.
