Advice from our agronomist
Light and position Needs plenty of direct sun – a south window. In spring acclimatise the plant to the sun gradually to avoid scorch.
Watering Water rarely and thoroughly, only when the soil has dried out completely – every 2 weeks in summer and hardly at all in winter. Excess water causes rot.
Humidity and care Air humidity is not important. Use cactus soil with sand or perlite and a pot with a drainage hole. Handle with thick gloves or a folded paper strip when repotting.
Feeding and repotting Feed monthly in the growing season with a cactus fertiliser; not in winter. Overwinter in a bright, cool (5–10 °C), dry place – this encourages flowering.
