Planting. Sow outdoors April to June, 1–1.5 cm deep, in rows 30 cm apart, or raise transplants in March–April. Thin plants to 10 cm.
Watering and feeding. Chinese cabbage needs even moisture – in drought it quickly runs to seed. Work compost into the soil before sowing; one nitrogen feed is enough over the summer.
Care. Keep the bed weed-free and cover young plants with fleece or mesh against flea beetles.
Gardener's tip. Long days and heat make Chinese cabbage bolt – early spring and late-summer sowings give the best results.
